Just got a new camera - Sony F35

I haven't tested it yet.
Just did a quick rewatching of one of my favorite shot films of all time - Badlands - did a skintone vectorscope test in final cut then loaded in some f35 footage. I'm not saying I'm badlands level - but skintones were able to match that overall so well. So easily. None of the weird green/magnenta Alexa stuff that I still can't for the life of me figure out how to easily deal with. But not to digress into Alexa bashing :)

Full range works. I did extended dynamic range with the pix 240 with the new firmware and it works.

I also did the worst camera test in the world with the f35, f3, and red one using cooke s4, ultraprimes, and superspeeds and some diffusion.

the results may shock you. Or not.

Hello everyone - hope you're all doing well.

Here is a short preview to a local cultural documentary I am putting together. Interview shots taken with an Slogged F3 to Samurai, all other shots from the F35 to a Samurai. Best, Sparky

Yes, it is the new Sony PL. On Steadicam, I use my own 18-50 Red and put the Cinedeck at the bottom to replace the monitor. When I fly the F65, I just use the SR on the back.

Finally got my F35 back together, the screws in my front plate were worn pretty bad, you will notice I'm missing a few, ordered replacements. Barrett Phillips converted my front plate to a Nikon mount. It is a well done mod and has the ability to put the PL mount back on. The iris lever is a little hard to get to, but this really is a added bonus, most lenses I use are going to be manual. Highly recommend contacting him if you are looking for a reliable conversion to Nikon.

Hey, the monitor output on the camera body without the mlut on looks pretty good as recorded in Dnxhd on the Cinedeck, is it just as good as the "A" output on the interface box? it would be cool to lose the weight for steadicam stuff. Where did you get an HDMI output module, did Sony make that?

It was very reasonable, a little over 1K, contact Barrett for details. I had to remove the front plate to send to him. He had it ready in a week, the milling is straight and clean, highly recommended.

I've been out and shooting a bit. I'm interested in the idea that the SLOG can be imported directly into AVID.

It's a Hyperdeck shuttle, I took the plate off the interface box and screwed it into the hyperdeck so I can mount it into the F35 mount. The hyperdeck can convert the SDI to HDMI for a viewfinder as well. The parts you need to run the camera without an interface box are: Battery Plate with the f35 Lemo connector and only 4:2:2 10-bit out of the monitor out, and I've had a D-tap cable made for the F35 12v output to power the hyper deck and EVF.
