Just got a new camera - Sony F35

I'm just wondering, when you are shooting with F35 as A-Camera and BMC as B-Camera, isn't the Depth of Field difference a little annoying?

I don't see the problem with using BMCC as a B-cam to the F35. It's just a matter of choosing the angles wisely. Do tighter shots with the BMCC, for example. Or use a lens with f0.95 or something. Sensor size is not the only thing affecting DOF, after all...And the speedbooster is also an option, as Barry mentioned.

But anyway:
I think the thread is starting to steer a bit in the wrong direction. How about returning to the F35?

You don't
notice it. One cameras wide or frontal and the others off axis or a tighter medium.

Sensor us larger than s16.

Miguel I know you have long term slo-mo plans in place but incase anyone is looking for poor mans 50i to 24p/25p conversion process back in 2002 prior to the advent of 24p in most modern cameras I was shooting PAL 50i to derive 24p using a bag of home brew tricks. (Yes I was shooting XL1se here in North America - lol)

It involved using Virtual Dub software and another program called AVISynth which was a script based video manipulation language that allowed you to do everything from convert pixel aspect ratio to frame rate re-mapping.... and a hell of a lot more.

AVISynth mainly acts as a wrapper to the video file so that it can be opened up in VirtualDub and from there you have access to a full library of video tools and filters. Even more powerful were all the free plugins available for it, some of which included a vast array of de-interlacers each with a variety of settings, adjustments, and from one I specifically remember the ability to chose from various algorithms with motion analysis, etc..

Yes of course you can de-interlace using practically any software these days but this unique stand alone solution produced some of the best de-interlaced footage I have ever seen.

Two questions:
1. Miguel, when you said you used a nikon-eos mount, is that an adapter? or an actual body mount replacement mount?
2. Can I use an eos mount instead of a nikon (therefore option to use nikon lenses with canon adapters as well as canon)?

Mac, hello! My F35 finally arrived today and I need a quick question answered. What V-Mount adaptor box are you using to attach your v-lock batteries to the F35's interface box? Need one of these to get up this baby and running! Many thanks, Sparky

It's in the manual. The original plate is the BKP-L551

You can get it much cheaper than that though if you do a search on the internet.

My nikon mount was custom built. It's not an adapter.
I don't think you'll be able to make it work for EOS, since you'll need to electronically control the iris and the flage focal distance is much shorter than nikon.

Many thanks for the swift reply. Frustrating goods in the US are so much cheaper than here in the UK. Do you use the original plate or another version?

I use the original plate, but I wouldn't mind getting another brand. I think there are a few on ebay. Hunter got his much cheaper than I did also.

Miguel, yes I understand you customized your PL mount and installed the Nikon mount inside that. I'm just wondering what Nikon mount you actually got.

Thanks Mac! You are a terrible influence :) I'm getting my F35 next week. I got a fantastic technician that'll do my PL to Nikon custom fit for $800. He is very experienced and keen to take it on. I'm so stoked.

Hunter, would you sharing with me which plate you use to mount vlock batteries on your F35 please? Thanks Sparky
