Just got a new camera - Sony F35

Anyone have an idea of where you could find this body within EU? Im looking for a basic kit but atleast need the output box for future setups.

Im a documentary filmmaker based in Sweden and I also study full time so looking for this camera as a great opportunity to learn more about cinematography and are looking forward to taking my time and get to know the camera and workflow. My idea is try to get the camera onto this rig: https://vimeo.com/30013558

I already own the rig and I wan't to try and only have the Ninja Star or Hyperdeck attached to the camera (plus some sort of monitor) while having external power attached to the back of the rig. As small and light as possible.

This might sound crazy because up until now I've only shot with DSLRs and C300s but Im just to picky with IQ to feel good about those cameras (even though I could be better at using them to their fullest ofcourse). What do you guys think? Will I be able to find a F35 body as cheap as we have seen before or should I stop dreaming?

Also: Anyone got the Nikon-mount done in EU?

I got it done in Madrid, but they're not the cheapest so I think you'll have better options in the US.

My documentary is done. Back to Madrid now.

The powers that be tell me off for advertising in here, so just to let anyone interested know I have a couple of T1 IR filters for sale again.

Anyone wanting an "F35 user discount" can PM me :)

So after reading through a lot of this thread I got my hands on the F35 that's been living down at my work's melbourne office and took it out for a test shoot over the weekend. Thoroughly impressed, here's a grab from the Odyssey 7Q recording 12bit 444. Canon 30-105 @2.8, straight into resolve with Macgregor's lut thrown over it, no further tweaks.

Ended up being a whole lot more manageable than i anticipated, loving the image.

They're still amazing cameras, proof TBH that CCD technology got consigned to the bin too early.

Even Sony more or less admitted in videos about the F65 they only changed from CCD because people demanded higher frame rates and lower cost - two things CCDs don't do well

So is the Odyssey able to recognize and record the 12bit signal?
Do you notice a large tonality difference between 10 and 12 bit?

Yes, I was under the impression that the 7Q will record 10bit 444 only. You can connect it to the dual link 12bit, but the final video is still recorded in 10bit on the 7Q. At this point only Sound Devices Pix 240 seems to be the only prores recorder that properly records the 12 bit signal.

Correct, the 7Q is only 10bit at the moment...

Ooh i'll have to check. I definitely recall seeing the 12bit 444 written in the input display box on the Odyssey, i don't have the files with me at the moment to check. Will update.
