Just finished shooting a horror short...

Got a call from my friend at the theatrics school in Aarhus Denmark. He made a course for the students who are mostly used to chronological plays, where they could experience a movie production instead of the stage work.

I brought my FS100, some ARRI tungsten fresnels, some pin spots, ultrabounces and negative fills along with my collection of small wattage praticals.

We chose to underexpose the shots pretty much all the way except for a few heroin shots.

I think it held up well, and Im excited to see how it will turn out once it's been edited.

The following a few screengrabs which I put through a quick PS to set contrast and saturation. I wont be doing the editing though.

ISO 1600, F3.5, Canon 24-70 2.8L mk I, using Franks ultimate with lifted blacks.

This was the first time since I got it 18 months ago that I really had to test the low area of the camera, I think it held up pretty well.

i do like the cold/warm light choices - in a good place to grade them into something like Davinci Code's opening scene and the noise seems to be well within Neat Video clean-up range

Don't know if the lifted blacks are doing you any favors here, esp with the skintones (plastic-ish lips/cheeks/nose) in the first grab... typical of what i saw when testing the fauxLog profiles, but the proof is in the grade, might be fine in context

True... I can see what you mean. I honestly wish I had time to light with meters and scopes, but these kind of no-budget shoots really take out any time to fine tune. Maybe I even pushed them too far in the PS grade than they would be in post.
Time will tell. Will follow up this thread when they have finished with the production.
