Just dropped my d810 -- repair question...

Hi,
Just dropped my d810 (arghhh). :)

First, I thought nothing happened, but I realize now that I get an FEE error when the aperture on the manual lens is set at 16 (where it's supposed to be). I tried another manual lens, same result, so I hope the lens is alright (it's an Otus, haha).

If I set the lens aperture at 1.4 instead, all camera functions work - except it stays at 1.4, no matter which settings I choose on the camera. The FEE error also flashed rapidly at one point.

So... does anyone have any guesses as to what kind of damage I'm looking at here?

Really anybody's guess but it sounds like the electronic contacts on the lens mount which could very well mean a damaged mount rather than just the contacts but as I said it's anybody guess without seeing it. Hopefully your Otus isn't damaged as well.
Best of luck.

Thank you very much, Patrick!

Yes, I came to the same conclusion now after reading a couple of articles. And yes, I keep my fingers cross regarding the Otus. :( :)

I once had a D700 fall about 8 feet onto a marble floor and land on its right hand top corner. It looked like it had stopped a bullet or something. I was sure it would be a write off but it was repaired for £250 which was actually a huge relief so it might not be as bad a you think.
Again, good luck.
