Based on the comments received to a previous posting on DVXUser and the research I did on this and others sites I got off dead center and just ordered the GH2 with the 14-40 kit lens.
Now, however, since I am new to the GH2 and shooting video with a DSLR I find that I have a few more questions. If you are able to respond to one or more I would appreciate it.
Thank you very much for your advice.

Now, however, since I am new to the GH2 and shooting video with a DSLR I find that I have a few more questions. If you are able to respond to one or more I would appreciate it.
- Is there a good book on using the GH2 DLSR for video
- Is the such a thing as a descent but reasonably priced stabilizing/rod-rail system for handheld shooting
- Would the SanDisk 32GB 30MB/s (read & write, I believe) be suitable for recording at the highest hack speeds 176mbps, should I ever have need to do so? (I am thinking ahead, just in case.) Or would the Panasonic UHS-1 Class 10 32GB SDHC Memory Card, 90MB/s (read) 45MB/s (write) be better? Unfortunately, Panasonic is double the price.
I am estimating that at these speeds a 32Gb card will only hold about 24 minutes of video. Does this seem reasonable? - I would like to explore the hacks for the GH2 but I am finding links that seem to take me all over the place. Is there a link or two that will take me to the most up-to-date versions of the video & audio hacks?
- On some video cameras it is recommend to zoom all the way in to focus and then zoom out to frame the shot. On my Canon 50D DSLR (no video) the instructions specifically state NOT to change the zoom after focusing. Does the GH2 work the same? i.e., should I NOT change the zoom after focusing?
- I plan to buy the adapter to allow me to use my Canon EF zoom lenses on the GH2. However, I noticed there are two types of adapters, one with and one without a built-in aperture. My lenses only have 2 dials, one for zoom and one for manual focus. I am assuming I need to get the adapter with the built-in-aperture. However, I am concerned about a loss of quality. Is this an issue? http://www.amazon.com/EzFoto-adapter-Aperture-Panasonic-aperture/dp/B006JSSFZO
- I will be buying the Zoom H4N so I can record quality audio. Is there a convenient way (a bracket???) to mount the H4N to the camera so that it looks professional? i.e., so I don’t have to hang the Zoom on my belt and have wires running all over.
Thank you very much for your advice.
Dan
