Hello! I got hooked on anamorphics too and I found a Kowa INFLIGHT 1.5X since it's not too common to come across a non-isco that is 1.5X I decided to buy it but I'm realizing that there's something weird going on the lower edge of the lens, on the outer side.. Is it mold / fungus? Is it cleanable? should this compromise the functionality of the lens itself?

as you can see on the last picture, looking from the threaded side of it, it "looks" fine..

Thanks!!!

You have a lot more to worry about then mold! I guess number one would be selective focus and the power of depth of field. When you figure that out take a picture that features the issue in focus. As a bonus when this skill is increased you will also be able to spot any effects crap on the edge of your glass has on your images.

I haven't got the lens yet, those are pictures provided by the seller. I was wondering if I should worry about something like that. If I were able to mount the lens / adapter on the camera I'd be able to tell myself..unfortunately, for now, those pictures are all I have

Ok, in that case there is no good way to tell if it will be an issue with out testing. It may or may not be removable. Looks like a chip to me, but out of focus hard to tell. If the rest of the glass is still aligned it could be fine. Only way I know of is to test, test, and test. If you can't touch it or test then you should get a deal or roll the dice.

don't worry until it is in your hand. this might be only a little yellowing on the ridge of the bent glass element from accumulated residue. it doesn't look too bad really : i have seen such deposit on a few oldtimers that still perform superbly.
