June 25 "Aputure House Party" live stream sales event

Filmtools has one for Aputure on the same day.

HotRod tends to have the better service and more experts working there than film tools though. A good company to support for local residents, in these times, and maybe get some deals.

I'm starting to feel like work isn't going to pick back up for some time, so I am starting to back off all these deals and sales.

Oh yeah I ain't buying a thing. Just thought it was "cool" and passed it on.

Just sold my S1 and gonna replace it with a new mirrorless though. Always gonna need one of those

Then why tempt us! haha.

"A percentage of all Aputure Sales will go directly to Feed The Freelancers! Feed the Freelancers, a charity initiative led by out-of-work film crew members is delivering free grocery boxes to non-union freelancers who have become unemployed amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. This charity effort provides wholesome food to hundreds of people each week, most of whom are not currently being served by government or private relief programs. Isabella Olaguera, Feed the Freelancers’ founder and CEO, is a non-union freelancer in the film industry."

The irony is how many out of work freelancers would be the ones most interested in this sale.

Yes. 100% of the money I don't spend on this sale is going to my family's personal Feed the Freelancers fund

Spending money on little things I have been meaning to do since I have the downtime. Like modding all my Sennheiser wireless units with SMA antennas.

So good. Yeah, I was on a good roll for a bit, but will try to get back into it today.

Yes, if I'm spending money it should be instead on all these little things, those bits and bobs to fill in the gaps.

What were today's deals? I signed up for the event, but never actually got any follow up from Aputure on how to view the livestream.

It was just a livestream on YouTube, FB and IG. Anyone could watch. I had it on in the background. I was in and out, but didn't see anything that really made me want to part with my money. They started out with their own spotlight attachment, then a bunch of DoP Choice stuff around 25% off and they finished up with 10% off a 300D II. Some of the middle stuff was from Chimera and Deity. Missed some of the other stuff while I was outside.

I've been wondering what the weight of the head and the ballast of the Aputure 600D is so I just looked it up on B&H and it specifically says, "Fixture Weight 0 lb / 0.00 kg," which to me is an absolute game changer to have a 600w LED light that weighs absolutely nothing. I can only imagine that the designer of the light must have found a Morse code signal in her analog watch which was sent back in time to her by her father from the future in order to teach her how to create an anti-gravity LED light. Don't even get me started on the fixture dimensions, "0.0 x 0.0 x 0.0" / 0.0 x 0.0 x 0.0 cm."

Eric,

Fixture Dimensions 0.0 x 0.0 x 0.0" / 0.0 x 0.0 x 0.0 cm

So, not only is it weightless, it's also invisible. It should be renamed the "Black Hole".

Disappointed by the event overall. They had a wide variety of loosely related bits and pieces, but the discounts were very modest. I was expecting something more like the B&H daily deals where you can often save 30% - 50% on a few select items, but most of these sale prices were in the 10% off range. Nothing to make me want to spend my money and deal with the hassle of jumping in at the right moment for the savings.
