JUdder motion wiracle

FWIW...
I've been shooting with record mode set to 60p and output set to 1080i, recording on a Hyperdeck2 with DNxHD. Bringing this footage into either Davinci Resolve or Media Composer has been utterly impossible to deinterlace. The combing artifacts were very very bad. On a whim I set the record mode to 30p. Now my native footage recorded to the Hyperdeck appears progressive...woohooo!! Problem solved.

(this is PAL land)

With the shuttle (the V1 anyway) i have to set the HDMI output to be 1080i, if you set it to 1080p it is actually outputting 50p, regardless of the record setting - i.e. if you record at 25p the output is still 50p, i imagine the frames are doubled up, very few recorders seem to handle that 50p frame rate setting

I don't believe that either of the shuttles will record 50p (or 60p), so if you set to 25p that is output as 2 fields in the 1080i stream and the shuttle itself does the simple pulldown job to give a single progressive movie file. In the US case i think the 60i can be used to generate 30p files (as you have) and also 24p fields via 3:2 pulldown. I don't know if the shuttle automatically does the pull down in that case...

there are some products in the BM range that will do 50p, but not portable. There also seems to be one that does 4:4:4 which i'd love to try, to see if that HDMI is really putting out a full RGB signal (as has been mentioned)...

cheers
Paul
