How long does it usually take for an account to be approved? I've been waiting around a week and tried emailing Chris but haven't had any luck with being able to post replies.

You aren't the only one who has had that problem. And if you ever do get in, you'll find it to be much stiffer than this site, not nearly as easy going. Many of the people who post there, can be found here as well.

DV Info is a much slower, more broadly distributed board than this one. DV Info has a lot of good stuff but some of the threads I post on over there are not updated for weeks or months. Over here, most of the threads, while active, seem to be updated every :30.

IT IS DVX OR DIE FOR ME!!!!!!!!! There is so much new stuff going on here that I can barely keep up.
I'm not a member over there, but I do however take a look at dvinfo once in a while. I just can't get used to the fact that the color scheme of their forum is so bright and nobody has cool banners in their sigs. I'm so used to how DVXUSER looks that it is a shock going to most other forums. Also, there are no avatars, meaning you will never see something like HorseFilms crazy two-legged abomination of a horse, running in its infinite loop.

There is a lot of good info there, and Chris does a great job of sharing what he knows, but I spend 50 times as much time here than there. There's is just something too controlling and antiseptic about it, like a nanny constantly watching you, more than any other site on the net I have found.
And I don't say that just to dis the place. It is my strong impression that they would not feel a need to dispute that, or defend their policies. And it's in their interest to have it as clean and proper as absolutely possible. It's their cup of tea, but not mine.
