This is a repost from the cinemaotgraphy forum, but I thought since this was a HVX200/Letus shoot I'd post it here also. Anyway. Recap we shot HVX200 with a Letus35mm adapter, so somewhere near 100 ASA. I'm usually against adapters but this one was pretty nice and we used the new Zeiss ZF primes which were very nice.

Roof, with a 8x8 Silver Lamee and a few 4x8 shiny bounces. Nothing crazy.

Kitchen, had an image80 and a bunch of kinos and the kitchen had three 1.2k HMI's coming in through the skylight.

Bathroom, had an image80, kinos, and a Joker on a boom arm.

Living Room, in lieu of a 6k book light like I had wanted we just pushed 3x 1.2k HMI's through a 8x8 1/4 grid. It worked out ok. The first shot was a very wide push in, but on the following close ups we brought it much closer and cleaned it up.

Peace.

hey matt,
do you have used only zeiss zf lens??
i have seen on setphotos one lens that looks different from zeiss lines.

Thanks guys. The HVX200/Letus combo can produce great results. The rig is a little less "stable" then the P+S technik or Movietube but I would still recommend it if you can't afford the rental, plus 35mm super speeds or something.

Yeah we used a Nikon 28-70 f2.8 zoom on a lot of the shoots. We didn't have a lens wider than 35mm. Also my little Sigma 15mm f2.8

Hey,

I just finished a shoot with the P+S Technik and that thing is a rock. I can pick it up by the handle and swing it around and shake it and nothing comes loose. Its also really freaking heavy.

The Letus35 with the support system I've been using, Letus/Zacuto is a lot of allen key tightened stuff and finger tightened bolts which come loose over time or after any vigorous camera movement.

Also the P+S technik is a simple baseplate with extending rods which makes adding a followfocus/mattebox really simple and sturdy.

Das it. Still like and I'm shooting another music video with it Tuesday.

Thanks hungrych.

I liked it visually, the way it was lighted and composed but I felt that the editing wasn't too good. It just didn't feel right. For example the sequence in the beginning where dolly in moves are combined with dolly out moves. Or for example the edit at 2.37. The shots/edits following after 1.40 don't really match with the rhythm of the song etc. I think it could be so much better when edited differently....
