Jiu Jitsu Web Commercial

I did this web commercial for free since I am not a professional just a hobbyist. I might add little segments of the instructor speaking about jiu jitsu but I like it so far. I could use some pointers from more experienced people here.

Anything more than a couple seconds of the warm up is boring, imo.

I would try to actually cut it down into a :30 spot. Just make it all of the best moves and action.

I kinda agree with mcgeedigital, it was too long . . . but you had some pretty good shots in there to choose from (if you wanted to go shorter).
Some of your jump cuts in the first 30 seconds were a bit awkward.
I wondered if, when the pace of your music changed (at around 55 sec), what kind of impact going from B&W to color, might have had?

Yea I definitely see that going shorter would be better. The color change might be cool, I will experiment and cut it down. Thanks for the comments.

Matt, also I enjoyed your book "From Still to Motion" I am finding it very useful.

Lost me at :10. Today's biggest challenge in advertising is keeping your viewer's attention; this failed there and rendered the ad ineffective. The music also didn't fit. Remember, you're not making a short film montage, as much as people love to upload those now that still cameras shoot video; people want to see the action, to know what benefit the product or service will provide them, what mood they should get from the imagery and have fresh coffee with an instant donut in under thirty seconds.

I completely get it, thanks I really appreciate the comments. I did a quick re-edit below and I think this is more like what you are talking about, but I need to shoot some more footage to make some even quicker cuts and show more action.

Thanks so much!

Feedback like that makes it worth all of the work!

BTW, I am speaking in DC next Wed at Interface Video on DSLR/AF-100 workflow, you should stop by.

Sounds cool, I can see if I can take the time off from my work, what are the details like time and such?
