What would cause the following problem? How can it be fixed?
I shot a tape on my HVX200 (earliest model, not a "b"). I played it back on the HVX and it skipped frames and dropped sound.
It does so in different places on the tape. There aren't specific spots on tape that are bad; they move around.
I played the same tape back on a different camera (a Panasonic PGVS-400) I had in the field and it played fine.
I have always used Panasonic tapes. AY-DVM63AMQ. I never use other brands.
The next day I recorded another Panasonic tape on the HVX and this time it seems to play back in the HVX OK.
In the filed I used a cleaning tape but it made no difference. (I ran it twice for 10 seconds per the instructions)
Usually, I do not use the HVX to play or check tapes but this time I was way out in a rural area with no access to a deck.
It seems like there are two possible causes: 1. Problems with the playback heads (are they different than the record heads) of the HVX or 2. A bad tape. (The tape was freshly unwrapped.)
Any other ideas? What do I do about this?
Thanks.
