Jitter / Interlacing?

I have encountered a problem while filming with the AG-DV100E (25p). When filming in high light conditions (eg. outdoors) in 25p mode I get a jittering movement (sort of vertical interlacing). This happens in fast pans and any fast movement. There is no problem in still shots. However when panning or filming a relatively fast moving object I have this problem which looks like a sort of interlacing problem / jitter (horizontal.)

Could anyone help me out on this?

thanks :)

if you're really into getting into it, go and check it out. it was discussed there to the bones.
making a long story short - not clear if it is a problem (i think it's not). there are ways to get over it: slowing shutter to 36 (synchro scan) will add motion blur and will soft "edges", shooting thick is also a must if you don't want to enhance resolution and sharpness...
just a note, the camera captures in levels that exceed the "broadcast safe" limits, if you're on FCP, put a broadcast-safe filter, that should minimize the problem.

Re: Jitter / Interlacing?

Well, it seems we have "Jitteroholic" problem
Doctor says: " Learn how to pan AGAIN , this is not ordinary camera"

Re: Jitter / Interlacing?

there's an easy solution to this:

First, put your camera on a tripod. Put sandbags down on each of the legs so that no movement at all can possibly occur. Better yet, cement it to the ground. Next, buy a motorized pan device from B&H to eliminate any contact with the camera by an actual human being. Light your shot with several HMI's, and be sure that your on-screen talent doesn't move too quickly.

Of course, there will still be SOME jitter, so just run your footage through 18 pulldowns in your NLE and add a 200 point gaussian blur. You won't be able to make out any discernable features, but the jitter will be almost completely gone!

now isn't that easier and cheaper than shooting film? :)

yeah Jay you'r on the right way!
but remember: take 2 pills of antiemetic before editing! 8)

Re: Jitter / Interlacing?

Thanks for your help...it looks like a problem to me. I'll try adding some gaussian blur.

There is your problem, When setting up for outdoor shots you are increasing the shutter spead. try using your ND filters to cut out the light and try what shai said. ie shooting with a shutter of 1/36 or there abouts. Should smooth your pans right up. Or at least as smooth as the pans you are getting in lower light situations.
