Jekyll and Hyde

Experimenting with HVX, Shake, greenscreen, and Keylight. My brother and I put together this little Jeckyll and Hyde scenerio. My bro didn't have time to practice his part so the lip synching is off in a few parts, but all in all I think it turned out well. there was some fuzziness around the figures, could be low light related. Maybe the compositing pros could offer some advice on how to fix this abberation. Without any further wait here is the confrontation.

Ok, it's a big file.

I watched the entire clip. Very powerful show. I couldn't tell there was a blue screen other than the blonde guy's hair had some distortion around it. I'd like to see this with an animated background.

I'm glad you liked it, they were both the same person. The hair thing bothers me too, anyone know how to fix it?

Okay this looked actually decent but the black background is hiding alot of obvious spill issues in the hands, shirt, etc... I don't know what all settings in keylight you used to pull this key but it should be a good bit cleaner. Try and vies status mode you will see a b&w matt representing the alpha channel you will want to use a combo of screen matte options and the de-spill option to clean it up. Also try the despot black option to help with holes in the middle of the matte. In addition the screen balance option can add priority to shadow or highlight areas as problems may occur. Keep in mind that any of these parameters are keyframeable so if the talent moves and the spill or something changes you can adjust for that as well over time.

Cool thanks LighthouseMedia, I will try all of those suggestions. I bought one of the Gnomon dvd's for Shake but it was really vaugue on actual application.

This may be a dumb question, but where did you get that piece of music?

I'm afraid I've fallen quite in love with it. What performance is it from?

~ John.

The song is called The Confrontation, it is from the Jekyll and Hyde, soundrack cd. Not the actual play cd, this one is better.
