Japan is hit with a 8.9 earthquake

There are myriad ways to reach out
Agreed wholeheartedly.

Look -- there is nothing wrong with someone praying for those affected by a disaster. We don't allow religious discussion here, but we're also not so heartless as to look in the face of a horrific tragedy and then come down hard on those who offer their wishes and prayers. If that's all you can do, and you believe in it, then by all means do it.

If you can do more, then I would encourage you to do more. If one has the means to contribute funds to the red cross or other chosen disaster relief organization, then by all means, please do so. As soon as Paypal sets up their specific page for it, I'm going to dump the contents of my paypal account into it. If you are a qualified disaster relief person and can assist in the organized effort to provide relief, and your schedule can afford you doing so, then such help is obviously needed.

I am reminded of a quote from a religious leader who said "In the end, the number of prayers we say may contribute to our happiness, but the number of prayers we answer may be of even greater importance." The Australian flood, the NZ earthquake, and now this -- there is a great need for help, and if it's within your means and ability to help, in whatever way you can, please do so.

My thoughts to the japanese people and board members, and my appreciation fr all things japanese that have made my creative life full of joy and satisfaction. My Lumix GH1, my old Nikon cameras and lenses (!), many nice audio effects in my project studio, my collection of japanese replica guitars (Bacchus, Tokai), my Toyota Prius.
I am sorry I never made it to visit the country... the northern islands were in the list of places of interest.
Along with other friends I remember watching the various japanese "test footage" videos and being amazed at the many examples of visual poetry - so different from our western, "parametric", clips...

Ciao from Switzerland
