January 2005 DVXfest Short Film Festival - LINKS

Here are the entries for this month’s DVXFest.  After watching all the films, I'm sort of stunned, because they're so good.  Once again, voting isn't going to be easy.  Please post some feedback for the filmmakers in the Film Discussion thread--they all deserve it.

Every single entry is worth watching, so if you plan on voting please watch each and every entry—it’s only fair.  Voting is open to all DVXUser members.  The contest judging is meant for a panel of your filmmaking peers, so PLEASE, no having friends and family vote or risk disqualification.   So as not to bias voters, please do not post your opinions and comments on the films in this thread.  All comments should be posted in the JANUARY DVXFEST SHORTS thread in the Film Discussion thread.  As a courtesy, please do not read the comments before you vote.

For all links ending in mov or wmv, please right-click/Save As and save the file to your hard drive before playing.  Voting will be open through February 7th.  Good luck to all the entrants!  If you weren't able to enter the January contest, you have until February 28th to enter this month's contest.  More great prizes, plus the winner will be eligible for the Best of DVXFest 2005 award and grand prize.

Special thanks to our January sponsors--

Panasonic USA and Jan Crittenden, DVX100 Product Manager.  What can you say about Panasonic? They came up with a groundbreaking camera that's allowed indie filmmakers and video producers to achieve an unprecedented level of quality at a reasonable price.  If you haven't purchased your camera yet, make sure you get a genuine Panasonic USA DVX100.  Thanks Jan.

Is there a more compelling subject than when a robotic killing machine faces off against a master ninja?  I think not.

Re: January DVXfest LINKS

I HATE INTERNET EXPLORER! I just hit Esc instead of ! and my whole post disappeared!!!! AAAAARGH!

Anyway - I had a suggestion that people post links directly to their movies instead of html pages - it makes repeated viewing a whole lot easier.

Re: January DVXfest LINKS

After the first viewing you can save the file to your harddrive or find it in your cache folder. But I agree, it's much easier to just post a direct link (helps with download managers too). Also, when you have a web page sometimes (impatient) people will begin watching your movie before it is completely downloaded (I know I do!). This can ruin the flow of your movie and maybe prevent some viewers from watching the whole thing. Be careful. Finally, although members have been keeping their pages simple and clean, I would hate to see a battle begin for best web page/presentation. Afterall, it's about the video, not the packaging.

In other words, I second Jerry's motion. ;D
