Jamming a DVX?

Re: Jamming a DVX?

I know the DVX can do free run TC... but I doubt it can be jammed by a denecke lets say. Syncing in post might my only bet.. however im going to use wireless transmitters to use 4 dvx's as pretty much an 8 track audio recorder for live sound recording of the band ... guess ill use an old school hand clap for sync. How advanced :P

Re: Jamming a DVX?

I may be mistaken, but I believe you can set the time code by the remote. If that is the case( I have not done it), but you can go through the menu with the remote, just have all the cameras tuned to the same remote and set all of them together with FreeRun.
Or I may have smoked the last of my crack and just need a nap.

I hate when that happens.

Re: Jamming a DVX?

I've tried some freerun synching on a shoot with multiple dvx's.... with less than great results. It was a quickie though... It ended up being about a second or so off in the end. Probably messed itup in haste.

Re: Jamming a DVX?

Very simply you can not. Pro cameras offer time code in and out. you would need that and sync from one of the cameras (black burst aka black video aka video out) looped through all of the cameras along with time code. Best you can do is decide which camera is the master. Then with four people, set the times codes the same and on three everyone starts the time-code running. Even then it will drift a few frames to a second off when you power down, change batteries, etc. Not much more you can do other than have a slate person onstage or off to the side that everyone looks at together every now while she claps the board for added sync.
