My first live action film, James vs Reality is now up online. This was my first attempt at doing live action (which was a constant struggle) and my first time doing visual effects (although I've done work with 3D in the past). The film was done on a $0 budget with scrapped together equipment. A constant struggle, but a hell of a fun adventure!

Winner of Best Sci Fi at DragonCon, Best Short at the DIY Film Festival, Winner of the Accolade Film Festival and featured in over 25 other festivals, please enjoy the stupid, silly, fun and epic James vs Reality!

In general it was nice to watch. The framing is nice, the light also... Specially the "fire light" in his face.

For sound: did you do ADR ? It feels like you did for some parts. But then it could also be your sound has shifted (got out of sync with the image)
because for some parts the sound was to late (about 3 or 4 frames), as well in dialogue as in SFX (hits).

So I don't know if accidently you moved soundtrack without realising and had to get it ready that same evening because you had to post it before 5PM because
the post office was closing or so ?

Looking at the credits you did almost everything yourself ? Well, specially for sound because sound always is something that needs 100% attention and when
you do it between the edit itself and you think "aaaah, it doesn't work...but I don't have enough time to give it 100% attention, so I'll just put it where in the
image the hand hits the face", then it's not good.

So it's better to have others helping you so that they can 100% concentrate on sound and you can concentrate 100% on the edit. And don't worry about
"not having money"... everybody does some projects for free if they're good and the director has potential.

The entire film was ADR'd and foley'd (as we didn't have microphones). I spent months on sound and got it as close as I could, but the entire film was an exercise in making limitations work as much as possible. I would have loved to have had more help, but that wasn't an option at the time. Now that this film is out in the world though, help has definitely come my way, which I'm incredibly happy about! :)
