Jalousie (short, strange, nightmare, blood & hallucinations)

Very short movie, trying to illustrate the feeling of extreme jealousy with blood and hallucinations.
Shot in DV in my appartment and modified in Final Cut Pro.

Comments are welcome !

Nicely done. Short and sweet. Editing, cinematography, everything was well put together.

The only problem would be that over-exposed shot outside.

What was this shot with?

P.S. it only takes 100 post to become a senior member. ;)

Thank you ! It was shot with a simple Sony PD-150. Over-exposed shot for the kissing scene was done on purpose to create the "subjective" view of the man behind his window. This "over-exposed" vision is just in his mind. But maybe that's not clear enough. :)
I love the old grainy 16mm look as long as it fit with the project... Even now, as we're living the high-def standard.
I'm going to try the same kind of movie with my DSLR very soon.

If you like the old film look, why not shoot on film? It's not too expensive for say 8mm, and it'll give you that rough look you seem to like.

are you by chance a fan of David Lynch? if not, quite the coincidence that you would both choose to use the PD-150 and a surrealist style. anyways, i like it, effective and the blood looked dark enough

about your explanation of the over-exposed shot, don't explain it! keep it abstract, you are shattering possible interpretations! say it was on purpose, but for a "certain effect you were trying to achieve" ;). this is just a friendly suggestion, im not trying to tell you what to do, and i have made this mistake myself in the past

there are more disadvantages to film than just the cost, like not being able to view the scene you just shot right away, every print being different, harder to light without an lcd monitor to look at (unless there's an 8mm camera with one), etc

You may be right Brendan, I should not explain anything ! I'll follow this rule to sound more like a true artist ! :) Of course Lynch is more than an influence, in this case it's almost a little "hommage".
Concerning the film shooting, it can be expensive and sometimes frustrating... I've made some movies in 16mm and even in 35mm... It's really another way of working. Lot of people, lot of time...
Jalousie was shot in 4 hours. This is the kind of experiment that can be done so easily with video and playing with looks & texture is really fun.
