Jaguar spot

Here is a quick and dirty, no budget, no crew Jaguar spot I did for Poptent. The first 3 shots were my GH13 with V1 of lPowell's 40Mbps AVCHD High Reliable In-Camera Playback Patch with Native 24p checked, and the rest was shot with the native codec on the AF100. It's not perfect, but it was a fun shoot and people seem to like it so far.

Nicely done. Looks good. Very good talent well directed

Just thought the pull focuses on the vehicle detail were a bit too rapid to do the "sell" of the vehicle "feature quality"

Took the words right out of my mouth. I watched it with no sound and it looked great. Felt like something that I'd see on TV right now. I thought the focus racking took it down a notch though.

Thanks guys. Yes Poptent is a spec site where the companies buy the winners. As for the rack focuses, I agree with you guys. The original concept the Director came up with was to sprinkle those shots thru out the spot before we gave it away that she was driving an imaginary Jaguar. That concept didn't flow right so we switched it at the end and were forced to use the Lensbaby Tilt Transformer shots and retimed them. If this was the original concept I would have either not used the Tilt Transformer at all or at least a less extreme tilt and a slower rack.

Couldn't you simply slow down the focus rack in the timeliine, and maybe throw out 2-3 seconds from somewhere else? Obviously not for this already-baked project, but a re-cut version.

Well that's actually what we did. Everything has been slowed down quite a bit. The problem is the fact that it's literally just a sliver in focus at a time more so than the speed.

did you use lighting for the back seat driving shot?

I did, but it was very very simple lighting. I had VIDLED with some diffusion and 1/2 orange mounted to the seat in front of her to bring the ambiance up a bit so the outside didn't blow out too bad. If I had more time and/or crew I would have done more, but for this it was good enough.
