Jag35 monitor and viewfinder...

that viewfinder is overpriced for what it is. From the design, it shouldnt even be called a viewfinder
1. you cant press your face to it
2. doesn't block out sunlight
3. overpriced junk from jag35
4. check this out for cheaper viewfinder: link

About the monitor: http://www.coollcd.com/hdmi-monitors_c846
Thats where jag35 has been getting it from, all they do is charge you an extra $50 + $20 shipping...
Rip off.
Heck, if you are paying for jag-crap 'american-made' knock off of indian-knock off, why the heck not just buy from someone else?!

http://express35.com/ is where you should be buying reasonable priced parts. They actually cnc high grade aluminum and take the time to make sure quality comes first!

From my understanding the Monitor X isnt supposed to be used like a regular loupe viewfinder.
From my perspective I dont liek regular viewfinders especially since I wear glasses and use a steadicam alot.
So this product seems to fill that gap very nicely for me.
Cameratown has a good review for it here: http://www.cameratown.com/reviews/review_listing.cfm?id=5093
He notes that it comes with a large sunhood which does block sunlight very well.
Its priced competitively cheaper than tradictional loupe systems so i dont see where it is "overpriced junk".
Different tools for different uses thats all.
The only other similar device i can see is Cinevate's Cyclops system.
They are known for quality (albeit expensive) gear and they see a need for a viewfinder such as this.
Honestly I'm aiming to get me a Monitor X for the 60D and use it on steadicams and sliders, both of which a traditional loupe wouldn't be ideal.
Its cheaper than getting an external monitor and requires no power, articulating arms or the like. I can even use it on a shoulder rig if i wanted to.
Its a product that fills a gap in the market and people have started using them already.

I have the Monitor X and it is great though expensive!
It works great on my 60 D and I can pull focus now perfectly with the LCD!
When I find some time I´ll do a video of it.

Awesome! I knew it would be wicked combination.
Yes please post that vid asap cuz im very interested in both the 60D and the monitor X.
Have you tried any off-tripod stuff it like steadicam/shoulder rig/slider stuff?
Also is the reflection issue that Cameratown mentioned that bad or only sometimes does it come up?

I just watched the vid.

Nice!
Definately improves the visibility of the useful swivel lcd!
I cant imagine getting a normal viewfinder after seeing this lol

Its a must-have for me when i purchase my 60D.
That and the D|Focus from Jag35 lol

Oh thats a shame. I noticed that they specifically did not mention the gh1/2 in the list of supported cameras. I always thought the gh2 had the same 3" size screen tho
