Jag35 Cage Question

I am looking to buy the new Jag35 cage. I emailed a question them but haven't heard back so anyone with experience might be able to help?

Will the cage and dfocus work with longer lenses like a 70-200? I know with rails you can just slide the FF down to meet the focus ring, but I am confused with the mounting option that the cage gives to the dfocus if it can get down there and reach.

I am looking to get this for monitor, zoom, and videomic attatchment on the top, as well a smaller rig to eventually fit on a glidecam 2000.

anyone have any input or thoughts on this?

thanks!

Hey, the JAG crew has all be in Vegas for the NAB show and hasn't been able to get to emails.

We actually had a rep from Canon come over with his 1D4 and 70-200 to play with on the cage. We mounted the cage to the lens mount (instead of the camera) and it worked excellent, D|Focus and everything.

in doing so you are essentially having the camera hang off the back of the cage with nothing supporting it from below correct? with nothing mounted onto the camera I don't see this being a HUGE problem weight wise, but doesn't that seem a little scary to rely on the connection of the lens and body to be the only thing keeping the camera from dropping?

thanks for the info by the way, I appreciate it greatly

Edit: I realize people do this all of the time with just the lens and body, but in terms of all of this added weight on the front end (cage, ff, audio, monitor etc) do you see any complications with it being very front heavy? just curious

Doubt it. You are mounting stuff very close to the CG of the rig.
