Jack and John went up the hill and came back with a Blood margarita...
It's either that or we are in the front row of a Gallager show.

Hey, the welding helmet!
heheh, yeah ... it came in handy for those of us handling blood behind the scenes for sure.

But did it make it into the film?

hmmmmm maybe :)

I just haven't had time to update it ...
I'm gonna go nuke it actually.

these are estimates ...
materials ... $350
cast commute expenses ... $350
craft services ... $250
personnel ... $300

So I guess that makes $1300.

Travel does not include Mark Johnsons's airfare and I don't wanna know ... but I think he used frequent flier miles.

The rest of the travel stems from the fact that we sent everyone home in cabs every night - or morning rather. I just wasn't gonna have someone on set for 10 hours, break them at 6 AM and then condemn them to a 90 minute subway commute -- no way. So that added up but it was worth it.

The days were'nt all that long - we only hit almost 12 hours once I think, but the fact that we were shooting Vampire hours made them seem longer. It's just a drag to finish and be exhausted and then have to take a long subway ride with or without lots of walking and transfers.

Jason and Amy's moral ALWAYS seemed to be fantastic, however, So something was working -- either they were just to professional to let me know I was wearing them down, or the cab rides home or endless supply of rice crispy treats helped, or maybe the fact that they could sleep through most of their call helped. But they were great and it was well worth it. Would have loved to have paid for cabs to the shoot as well but that would have made the film unshootable for me budget wise.

The only paid personnel were the actor/model who had no dialogue but appears fully nude chained to a table and had a 8 hour shoot 2 hours of which involved being chained to the table, covered with syrup, and wearing a prosthetic facial appliance that made speaking or drinking impossible and breathing quite difficult. I was also looking for a very specific body type for this roll and that narrowed the number of people willing to go through this sort of thing greatly.

The other paid personnel was a makeup artist that was needed to create an on camera attack with gore.

OMG! 2 hours chained to a table, nude except for a layer of cough syrup and wearing a prosthetic making it difficult to breath!

I can't WAIT to see this!

Looking forward to it, Jack. Boy, am I ever!

ROFL --> cough syrup ... hahaha.

No a "blood" mix of chocolate and strawberry syrup like what's in the blender at the top of the page (with little bits of sea sponge)

lol, exactly ...
here's a lil clip from that night of me being put through what I usually put others through :)
I'm sitting in syrup on a basement floor that hasn't been cleaned since the 60's.
(nothing big on the clip, just a little extra or "lagniappe" as they say in New Orleans)

click for image for clip ... AM I HAVING FUN YET?

Well she made it through because she has an attitude as positive as yours.
The cast photo I posted was from her camera and she actually said she had a great time when she sent me the photo in the email
We all can't stop talking about what a trooper she was and saying how lucky we were to have found her, both from a visual production value sense and a people sense.

Well, that rocks! It's always awesome to have positive people on set like that. Makes life SO much easier :):):) Thanks for all the updates Jack!

BTW: Did you happen to see my little gem I am entering into horrorfest? Check it when you get a chance.

Oh geez... do I feel silly.. I wrote "cough syrup" because my brain deciphered that from "covered in syrup." And I kept thinking... "what? what is so special about cough syrup? I know that Robitussin has a purple syrup... Is that what Jack is using?"

Then, after your comment, I saw my faux pas!..

Oh well, I'm glad you got a laugh out of it!

I still can't wait to see that footage. Must be amazing!

(MMMM.... ME LIKE CHOCOLATE AND STRAWBERRY SYRUP. TASTE YUMMY WITH ARM ON SPIT!)

Hey, 1300 bucks isn't bad at all!

Wait, I take that back...

lol, why take it back? You left out in your quote that I paid a makeup artist as well.
Is $1300 to much if we didn't pay people? Or did you think $300 ($200 actually) is to much to pay one actor for one night of work? Whatchu talkin 'bout TommyinLA?

The taking it back was about the nude actor laying on the table for 8 hours... lol

I think 1300 is a good number for a budget actually. If you pay people, it seems to make for a more professional environment... I must say I dig your BTS stuff and can't wait to see your film...

I think you might actually crack the top 18... :D

EDIT: Holy crap, you added what's his face while I was replying... I was scrolling down the page and just about died...

Oh, and Timur thinks the guy that I cast to play "Jack" looks like you... go check my Maliboo thread and tell me what you think...

Just so you know, I had to copy that "Whatchoo" jpeg to my hard drive!!! That is awesome!

Some of you may see that again!!!

Jack - btw, like the change on your icon there. So, syrup, huh? I'm beginning
to think that filmmaking is all about receipies.

Just to let you all know, I was over at Jack's lending a hand on some pick-up shots the other night, and he let me see the first couple of minutes. It's looking pretty good.

But Jack, did you really have to reveal your secret ending? The all-male daiquiri-pocho-party-musical-number?

BTW, that dude on the right. Wherever did you find an actor SOOOOO ugly?
