Well, Im just going to have to reformat the ole harddrive here. Ive run several virus protection and spyware programs and Im still infected with adware that pops up uninvited. So wish me luck.

..that's how I killed my Sony, good luck, hope that doesn't happen to you,
bawhahahaha.

I have had to do that on occasion to all 4 of my computers here. (my kids computers as well) It works like a charm. It makes your computer run like its brand new. I have a copy of windows xp pro that does not need registering. The old xp I had you could reinstall like 3 times (on the same computer) then you are a criminal.

I get those pop-ups too. Would My Computer and My Documents and Internet Explorer not open either?

You guys should be using firefox instead of IE and install spybot:search and destroy and use the teatimer in it. It locks down the registy to known spyware, you should chek for updates every 2 weeks also for your spyware and virus protection.

This thread is all gibberish to me... reformatting hard drives? Virus software?

Oh, how I adore my Macbook Pro.

Yep.. Firefox and Ad-aware... that's the way to go.

Don't count on Firefox.

I get alerts for these sorts of things...and Firefox is not immune by any means. It just doesn't have 30-leven thousand people complaining day after day after day because it's an MS product.

:badputer: Yea, Dosen't anyone watch the Mac vs. PC commercials? I mean talk about proof in the pudding. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
(i'm such an instigator, i'm just waiting for John or Isaac to serve me a nice cup of STFU)

Tried firefox.... had problems. Been using IE ever since without a problem. My antivirus software is free from majorgeeks.com updates itself all the time, works great.
And a friend of mine has been with macromedia for years, now its owned by Adobe. He has macs and pcs for work. He said "no difference! they have both had their share of problems" I have both as well, so far so good for both.

i've reformated probably 5 times in the last year between an internet and editing comp. either for spyware, switching hardware around, corrupted hdd, just to clean up the mess...

my friend called with help one time and i walked him through it all by memory, lol.

it is a good feeling tho, like having a new computer.

Whoooeeeeeee!!!!
The ol HP is spinning like a top....2days, 1 reformat several reinstalls, and countless reboots, the chore is over! Running System Mechanics pro. 6, so everything is fine...at least for now.
