I've Had enough of life, I'm starting to go mad

Hey guys, latley I think I'm starting to lose it, I'm trying to do to much, and the pressure justs keeps mounting. I sometimes want to stop but that goes against my core nature of who I am, I've never been able to stop, until the Job is done.

Here is what I'm trying to do all at the same time, its starting to drive me mad, but I can;t let it go:

(1) Writting a book, more stressful than you think

(2) Learning, and modelling 3D, two projetcs, Mazda project, and Human Body project.

(3) Learning C++, and JAVA, and PocketPC programming. (oh yea OpenGL, mo fun)

(4) Programming mapping and GPS navigation software. :(

(5) Programming a CAD application

(6) Learning Finie Element programming to intergarte into my above CAD program

(7) Learning about cameras, filmmaking, VFX, comping, Sound recording (basically the whole nine yards!)

(8) And to top it off, looking for a Job, more stress, and feeling of useless-ness, when you are told that you are "Not experianced" enough to do tasks that any moron with at leat two working brain cell is capable of doing. I've got enough knowledge to build a better software application then they have, but I have to set there listening to them lecturing me on how to use it :((((, sorry guys for the rant. Guess I need to let some steam off.

There I feel a little better.

I feel you man. I am like that too where I want to learn everything and anything that looks like I might like it. I am just now learning to focus on one or two things and try to master them before moving on.

Hm...this seems to be a trend...or an affliction. I'm doing the same thing. I guess now that the digital revolution has delivered it all into our hands, it's hard to know when to stop. I mean, in traditional filmmaking, everyone becomes a master of their niche, and here we are trying to be a master of everything (or a jack of all trades and a master of none).

Dude Anhar. Forgive my honesty, but you need to get laid man. :)

Unplug for a little bit, find yourself some loving and recharge the batteries.

I say keep it simple. Give me a nice warm day and nothing to do but ride my Harley.

I try to keep my photography as natural as possible, not lights everywhere and someday I hope in the near future I'll start up the filmaking thing. And I can't get all caught up in the tech crap. It would drive me mad too. My plan is to tell someone else to do it.

Your list had a few "Learning" projects. Although "learning" is great, it's just eating up all the free-time you have. Cut all the learning! Focus on ONLY the stuff you need to survive. Finding a job might be top on the list. Once you find a job, decide what is the next thing you want to do with your time (maybe write the book). You are the master of your time (and maybe master of your domain), don't let time be the master of you.

Once you make better use of your time you'll be able to accomplish all of your goals. But right now you're spreading yourself to thin and you're suffering. Time to clean house and make some changes.

Good luck!

Ah! Sage advice from a master monk! Thanks PK, even though it was directed to Anhar, I feel tranquil myself after having read your advice :)

In all seriousness, PK is right. You have to decide what things are really important for right now and the immediate future. Focus on those as you accomplish them, you will have time available to either tackle another task or spend time learning.

But most importantly, you have to allow time for yourself. You can't always push and push indefinately. You will burn out and find that nothing is being accomplished and/or you will suffer physically as your body wears out.

Peace,
Larry

Yeah, I gotta agree with the majority and say... SLOW DOWN! Why are you attempting to learn so much... at the same time? What is the purpose? Will your life reach a state of nirvana when you master these things? And why oh why is getting a job at the bottom of that list?! Cut some of your dead weight and have some fun. That's an order! :)

Thanks guys, cheers PK, you spoke with wisdom, I can not disagree with Isaac. Its right I'm all over the place, I'm need to get things in order before I drive my self to the mad house.

I have a problem with learning, they say that admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery, will heres my first step. I can't help but learn, the more I see the more I want to know, I guess many other DVXusers have the same learning addiction !

I'm gonna unplug and enjoy the simpler things in life for a while, man I think we shoudl have national "unplug" day, where we unplug from the net and live life pre-internet days, we got on just fine back then, we should be able to do the same now !

Thanks guys, I'm gonna take the excellent advice from you more enlightended DVXusers !!

cheers

I had a philospohy teacher who said once that for a long time, each year, he would pick ONE thing he wanted to learn about. And for one whole year, he would devote himself to learning all he could about that one thing and would not let his focus waver. He said that was a great way to truly learn about a thing.

He also wore Marvin the Martian ties to class.

I’m "A Go Guy"
In fact I’m obsessive, but at times, I turn off my computer, in the middle of what I am doing, for a few hours and eat, sleep and do “life” things…(Less than I should, nature of what I do)

If it starts to eat you up …STOP

One thing I will say, is that if in a few years or whenever I finnish that darn book, you guys will get a sneek peek.. way before anyone else. Thats a promise :)

Anhar, actually I got a rough version of your book a few months ago and have already copied it and sold millions of copies here in Asia. Sorry, but Isara needs funding some how. :)

I picked one up from a steet vendor in Bangkok. The good news is it's an all new edition of the Kama Sutra. The bad news is it's written in C++. Ah well, live and learn.
