I thought you would be interested to see some recent video I have been shooting in the B&W Dynamic film setting. I also use the H4n and Sennheiser for audio and plurtaleyes for sync. The lens is a canon 50mm, 1.4

You can see more of my GH1 videos at this link: http://www.trueactinginstitute.com/europe/

I like your overall look, but there is a lot of overexposure there. Is this something that you wanted in the look?

Well, I brightened it up a bit in Final Cut Pro, but the conversion to vimeo made it a little more intense. Overall, I am still pretty happy with it and for testimonial purposes, it is just fine for me.

yeah i love the dynamic black & white, i go through periods of leaving my GH1 in that mode and always shooting black & white.

i do enjoy a bit of colour correction in post so i always jump back out B&W mode

i found that the standard black & white is also very nice, in post you can darken up the blacks and you have a very dynamic looking standard B&W but with a bit more tonal mid-range than dynamic. i also sometimes like to add a bit of grain to make it less of a perfectly crisp image.

i do feel bad about not using colour tho, its such a waste as colour treated right in post is unbeatable.

good video i liked it, yeah looks a bit overexposed as John Frey mentioned but if that wasn't what you were going for you wiser for next time.

I hardly ever dabble in B&W. Can you not replicate the B&W look in post-processing? So surely shooting in colour all the time makes sense, so you have the choice?

Yeah, you've got more control in post, but I like the in built looks you can get with the GH1. Everyone says that it's look is baked in, so why not just capitalise on that and use the custom looks? I think they did a pretty good job of creating some nice looking B&W modes, I like Smooth B&W personally.

Nice looking interviews, a little bit bit hot exposure wise, but looked good. Interesting project.

Thanks for the replies. I tend to like the image a little over exposed but I will try to shoot less so next time.

I like the content of your video. However, it is definitely too overexposed. Try the other B&W modes. They will give you a little more dynamic range. If you tweak those settings you can get some nice results without post processing.
