Been banned twice and after more than 600 posts and some of the longest threads on Cafe ala DVX, my rating is so low I can't even "like" other users' posts. Thank you DVXuser :lipsrseal

Hey EDV,
Just take all that same stuff you would post - and make a video of it, upload it to VIMEO, and then post it in "User Films"! Problem solved, right?!

From one basterd to another: "That's one bad hat Harry!"

intriguing. the cartoon is no worse than anything on family guy (of which I am a pretty big fan). maybe the board's members are just too sensitive these days. i am friends with a lot of theater people who share similar sensibilities.

thing is, even when the majority is wrong, majority rules. so play nice, when in Rome, etc. if the people youre associating with dont appreciate offensive material...dont use it around them. hold yourself back and find another crowd for that stuff. we all have to play pretend a little to get along in society.

I don't even use vimeo. I use vzaar. But seriously. What's up with you people? Don't you have a sense of humor? Why was my original post even downvoted?

I mean that if you put all the stuff that folks supposedly objected to into a short film.... then it would just be "art" and no one would complain. LOL!

Happens to me all the time. Somebody doesn't like your answer and bam, your post is rated not helpful.

I will say that some of your early posts bordered on trolling. And since you have been banned twice, I would suggest I'm not the only one who felt that way.

All the best!

Dave

There is so much political correctness 'out there' in the real world , that the last thing I want when I come to an internet board is someone telling me off because of some silly joke I made ( see examples above ) or some "unpopular" point of view. I believe I have earned my right to speak my mind on this board after hundreds of useful posts and interesting on topic threads. So I am amused by your "trolling" remark... but thanks for the honesty anyway. I joined DVX to learn from other pros... but from time to time I see no harm in "spicing up" a discussion when things get a bit lame and boring...

I've found this site is the last place to be trying out your standup routine, usually goes over like a fart in church....I checked out some time ago, occasionally popping in to grab some technical camera info.

EDV, I wouldn't take it personally. I never found your posts objectionable (that I can remember)

I see no harm in "spicing up" a discussion when things get a bit lame and boring...
Yeah, its not exactly a party environment in here. With that being said....bye for now.

At the risk of being downvoted again ( seems like I'm on my way to breaking some sort of record! ) I have to point this out: Why are posts on Cafe a la DVX not counted? I know it's supposed to be "off topic" but "on topic" issues and questions get posted there all the time, for the reason that is one of the most viewed sections of the whole forum. Not only that, but some of the "on topic" threads there are some of the most interesting. If a DVX member can be penalized for posting something on Cafe a la DVX ( as I have been ), he also should be rewarded for his contributions there ( ie. his posts should count )

I did note the date. 2012 is not that long ago.... and the films and clips posted have all been removed. Don't want to derail this thread but that is really a sad trend. So your film is rendered "inaccessible" because it was made more than 2 years ago, and therefore it doesn't matter anymore? C'mon...
Fortunately there is still some good "vintage" content on DVX that hasn't been removed yet.

It has a lot to do with DVX user, but it's nothing the moderators can prevent or fix. There are countless top-notch videos and films that have been removed or made private. Some of those videos had better photography than what I see sometimes posted now. So why remove them? Again, not asking this of the moderators, but of other members who might be reading this.

Often the people posting good stuff may not have control over it.. Someone might post a link to an ad that they shot for coke but coke owns it, hosts it on thier channel, and puts it up or takes it down as per their desire.. they paid for it after all. Often these commercial companies will pull it down when the campaign has run.

As for personal projects often our own work looks dated too after a couple of years and might be pulled down.
