It's a dumb question (...so shoot me)

After a weekend of shooting with the DVX,
(at 24p regular) I am faced with having to
do ADR on one quick bit of dialogue
(involving one actor)

Is it an absolute that I have to both:
1) Record the ADR to the DVX in 24p setting
and
2) Use the DVX for viewing playback for the talent?

(...am I right? Was that a dumb question?)

Re: It's a dumb question (...so shoot me)

you can veiw it on any nle or deck you want.. and record on any device you want at 16 bit  48k audio to match the dvx (unless for some reason you had it in 12 bit mode) - the audio is just regular uncomressed 16bit 48 k audio/wav format. and splice it in in post

Re: It's a dumb question (...so shoot me)

Let me add another dumb question, while I'm
on a roll.....the original sound was from
an outdoors shot - would we be better
advised to try and get the ADR outside
with nat surrounding, or in a sanitary
studio environment?

Re: It's a dumb question (...so shoot me)

do the adr cleanin the studio, and record a background track of on site sound, and then mix them to your liking. that way youll be able to clear it up if some car honks or something else happens during an important line all the time.
