Hey all. I went to that website, www.heyhomie.com, you are right about some.. ok I MEAN MOST, of the movies there, they are in BAD taste. Horrible taste. But there were some movies I suprisingly liked there. Drunken Dad is great, and that DJ Irene music video is pretty funny. They also say they use a AG-DVX100. I mean that's a waste of money to make these type of movies with it.... but ... what else can I say.. I'm kinda scared I liked a few there.
1/16/04 Producer Neal Moritz, head of Original Film, credits fellow producer Brad Luff with bringing the Torque script to his attention. “I had wanted to make a motorcycle film for some time,” recalls Luff, “and Torque had all of the elements I was looking for: visceral action, drama and compelling characters driving the story.”
I think that I give most of the movies I see the "It was okay", but what are you gonna do? Every time I go to a film I'm hoping (but mostly not expecting) to see something great. My IWO rating just means that "it didn't suck too bad", or "it's worth a matinee". The thing I want to know is where Ebert comes off saying that life is too short to watch mediocre films when he watches everything that comes out. Does he expect us to take his word for it? Ever since he gave the thumb down to Tombstone, I don't listen to a word he says.
I find Ebert rather groin-centered -- the higher the sexual content of a given film, the more he likes it and the higher he rates it.
And hey, Ebert should be an expert on mediocre movies -- he's written a few, including "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" and "Beneath the Valley of the Ultra-Vixens".
Yes, it was funny because they later changed their minds after it was a big success. They did a show where they looked at some movies that came out that year again, and changed their reviews. Ever since then I haven't taken them seriously (not that I ever did). I can enjoy a film on many different levels, and sometimes it just depends on what kind of mood you are in. So I don't have much use for critics. But anyone who could watch Val Kilmer's performance in Tombstone and still give it a thumbs down.....
