Personally the banding does not bother me, but Noise does. I have shot at 1250 and have had the image look wonderful, I have shot at 640 and had more noise in my image as well. Honestly after a couple of years of using DSLRS, it's still a lot of hit and miss which is why I always record a lot when possible.
