ISO 3200, 50i

I just got my af100 (so far so great) and I have 2 quick questions:

1. It seems like there aren't PAL options in the rec mode: no 25i, or 50i/p, only the 24, 30, and 60 options. How do I get them?

2. How do you set the ISO to 3200? Using the gain button I can only get it up to ISO 1600.

I know these answers are somewhere in the manual, or Barry's great book, but it's become so strange to look for something on paper, instead of simply search and find..

Thanks!

Ill help a touch because if you do have Barrys book or the manual both are there.

1/ You need to set the system frequency from 60Hz to 50Hz.
2/ You need to set the ISO levels of the gain switch.

Quick question though, where are you located? Did you buy a local camera? Im in PAL land, and our local model is AG-AF102EN, comes set at system frequency of 50Hz. Reason I ask this is - if your in a PAL country and bought locally, you MAY and I'll say it again to reiterate MAY have a grey market camera.

SW mode allows you to change ISO values to whatever you want. Other Functions the last Menu Heading will allow you to change to 50hz from 59.4. It is worth reading Barry's book as it is a mine of information. I got my copy 2 weeks before the camera arrived so was able swot up and select settings that allowed me to shoot good pictures almost straight away.

Wow...kids today eh!

Thanks Noel, and Bruce. Don't worry, Noel, I'm in Israel but I shipped my camera from B&H. Barry's book was in the box.

So I switched the system frequency to 50hz, turned the camera off, and on, and now I get a message, "Can not use due to incompatible data" -- and the camera refuses to film! What other setting do I need to change??

One more piece of data: I'm using the 14-140. Maybe it has something to do with the "incompatible data" message?

You need to format the card while in 50Hz if you last formatted it in 60Hz.

Thanks ASG, this works.

A related question: I shot a test scene last night in an office, while still at 60hz, and there's an awful flickering on the image -- which I assume is due to the neon lights, and the NTSC setting. Can I feel confident that with the 50hz PAL setting this flickering would not be there? And anyway, how do you get rid of the flickering?

Otherwise I love this camera. The image is bright, and full of detail, and the 14-140 with manual focus and auto-iris worked very well for me. I had no problem moving around, and shooting people moving around as well. The OIS is slightly -- and I mean slightly -- less powerful than with the Sony cameras I worked with so far (pd-170, nx5, ex1r) but it's certainly not a show stopper.

If I remember, you can increment or decrement the shutter speed by fractions to avoid neon flicker (look in Barry's book).

This will most likely correct itself once set to 50Hz on the default shutter speed. If in film mode turn shutter off - this will set you to 1/50th which should match the light source. However if it doesnt - to Barry's book - look up syncro scan. I dont actually have Barry's book, but I can guarantee it will be there.
