SHORT: Isis: Double Feature

[Sangye]

My companion dog Isis is a startlingly intelligent and human-like animal. Among other unusual behaviors, she routinely stares at objects near and far for remarkably long periods of time, as if in contemplation. I am working on a longer and more narrative piece which I intend as a sort of meditation on her intelligence. In the mean time, here are two shorts that feature her. The first is a quasi-narrative montage of her explorations through a beautiful coastal environment, and the scenery that may have caught her attention. The cuts are deliberately slow, to convey her reflective disposition. The second is a single-take with minimal editing, of her standing at the summit of a mountain and staring directly at a Buddhist centre, approximately 4 miles away. I hope you enjoy them.

First of all, your dog is gorgeous! Those eyes!

Second of all, the footage is fantastic. Love the colors you got. I do wish there was more of the dog in the first vid, but it was still nice!

Beautiful bokeh on the flower at 1:42 in the first one.

My dogs do a bit of the same thing, I think the longer they stand there the more there is to smell. You have to wonder what having a really good sense of smell is like. I can only conjecture it's f&%king awesome, because they're constantly snuffering that whole world of information. Especially on a windy beach or mountaintop, I couldn't help but notice her nose working like crazy in that windy close-up.
