Isara Just Got Hacked

Hmm... Why do people target sites that do good, there are plenty of evil sites out there they could deface, but there probly was a hole in Isara's code somewhere

What?

How?

I'm flooding his e-mail right now. Is there a program for that?

Does PK know?

Is there a way to make it more secure so this won't happen in the future?

Everything but the homepage works...

Forum, IsaraPix, IsaraURL, they all work, just not the front page.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..... that's just a terrible thing to do to a site that does so many good things.

I noticed that a few hours back... thought my computer was hacked!

Sad how they target such a good-willed site

weak sauce! i love isara and spread the word on my internet ventures to everyone who will listen, i even got banned for a week from a long time message board for 'spamming/advertising' telling everyone about the great site and the isarapix and isaraurl, trying to get people to switch from tinyurl.com to isaraurl.com , but it was worth the ban if even 1 person visited the site to help out PK's goals!

So get that back online! And ask us what we can do to help now and in the future PK, whatever it takes! You do alot for your cause, some little computer goobers cant stop your will, we all know that

That's pathetic. I hate hackers. They're so busy not getting laid that they have to go and do **** like this.

Thanks everyone. I just got through visiting Isara at the e-hospital and he says he's feeling much better. He just had a really bad hacking cough.

:) :)

Never been hacked before so it took a while to figure out what to fix. Turned out to be an easy solution and hopefully the "hole" has been well spackled. But, as long as we're on shared hosting, we're going to be susceptible to these kind of random attacks.

As already mentioned, hackers suck! It's virtual terrorism. They are the lowest of the low because they only attack the weak (those without proper security) and they hide behind their monitors like cowards.

This poor guy got hacked too. But I don't think he's aware of it yet.

Isara is a he? Thanks for telling me. I need to see a therapist now.

PK, Im curious who is your host, and how shared hosting would allow an exploit like that. Oh and, a hacker that cant code 6 lines of HTML on his own, is not a hacker, its just a script kiddie.

I use Bluehost. The CMS software I use is Joomla but I don't think he got in that way. All he did was find my template directory and change it. I've changed my passwords and also the permissions on some of the folders.

I think you're right. He's a noob. :)

I'm not certain, but they probably just use some sort of script with parses the server response to see what software / os the webserver is running on. I think that particular on (the 'hotmial' one) attacks Microsoft IIS servers running the FrontPage extensions. So they really don't even know what the hell they're "hacking" into. We had an email server hacked about 5 years ago with the same system and whoever "hacked" it had no idea what they were "hacking" so it's not necessarily a person who preys on smaller websites or has a personal vendetta against anyone. Wow, that was a long sentence...

I think you're right. It was not something personally against our site. Just random attacks to whatever system they can get into.
