Is Windows Media Player good as a DVCPRO-HD player?

My Windows Media Player runs under Win XP and actually plays my P2-files.

If I had a HDMI-out on my PC, could I display the clips in full resolution via HDMI-cable from the running Windows Media Player to a Plasma-screen?

I can't seem to find any specifications about P2-clips beeing played on WMP. Neither about the resolution nor about the color accurancy etc.
 
Yeah, it's one way.

Clone your overlay out - viola - but you end up with different types of video output (VMR / Video overlay) and the colour space can be all over the shop.
