GH2 Is twixtor or something like it neccessary for slow motion?

I shot a bunch of climbing clips at our Youth Divisional tournament this weekend. Slow motion really lends itself to the drama when they are falling so I slowed down some of the shots. However, I didn't have the time to use an interpolating program like Twixtor to add in more frames.

All of the clips below that were slow motion were 720p @ 60 FPS. The rest were 1080p @ 30 FPS. I slowed some of them down to 20% of their original speed. Do you think something like Twixtor is neccessary for slow motion like this. How much slower could I go with a Twixtor like program?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxSWPtYappA

Twixtor works best when you use a high shutter speed (1/1000 or more) in addition to the 60p. Obviously planning that sort of thing in advance is best - but it still provides nice results at a 180 degree shutter. You just have to adjust individual clips and see what is acceptable to you. Helpful tutorial here:

If you have After Effects already, you could use the built in "pixel motion" frame blending engine to create in between frames.
Twixtor's algorithm is far better at predicting motion and creates much more believable effects, however it is expensive and AE's works well enough if you are only pushing it a little bit.
I use it sometimes to change the frame rate of a sequence to match a project (something shot in 24p that needs to blend with 30, or vice versa).

Its better than nothing, and you might already have it.

Great points by JMW. Also wanted to add..If possible have a nice clean background. If you have a very detailed background ..like trees..you will have some blending problems.
