Is this what Canon Lens owner been waiting for?

1/8th increments, that is great. Also glad to see Mike Tapa got the the unit a lot smaller from the prototype model.

I was trying to be positive... I recall making fun of the prototype way back when and getting scolded for it! lol

:P

Timur, how you doing anyway? What you shooting on these days... .

Actually, >$1900 shipping incld, for both!

Oh boy, at that price, having a spare around would be very difficult. That would raise the pucker factor on any shoot where I was dependent on that gizmo to make all of my lenses work. I went with Nikon F mount lenses, and I always carry a spare Nikon F to E mount adapter (Shooting on a FS-1000). Dropping that controller, or an unlucky coffee spill, could ruin your whole day.

A friend of mine who just got a F-3, has this. I works but, the box is kinda large, and he has been frustrated with the unit going to sleep and reverting to wide open. Not too good on interviews. They also ship with no instructions. Also there is no external power tap, AA batteries only. Like I said, it does what it says, but I'm still glad I chose to have Nikons, much less to worry about.

I seriously don't understand what is such a big deal to own lenses for each system, definitely not $1900 dollars worth it. I own EOS lenses, 50mm USM f1.4, 70-200mm f2.8, 15-85mm f3.5... . and can't use them on my F3 and I say big deal. If you really want to use your EOS then buy the C300 or Scarlet and be done with it.

overpriced and under featured and big and clunky.... seems like that product was not a good call... Almost $2k just to get some cheap glass on the camera.... doesn't that defeat the whole thing?

I say for 2k sell your canon glass and just invest in a nice PL zoom and be done with it, or get some nice Nikon primes. Simply not worth it in my book.

I dont get why people like canon glass... I really never liked their quality vs price. I've seen a lot of quality nikon glass at half the price of canons and with more usability. A lot of canon lenses have lots of plastic on them. I like rugged nikon glass. Plus you can always put a $10 cheap adapter on them to use with Canon camera mounts... best of both worlds. I've always bought nikon gear over canon. They never struck me as gear that can handle abuse or stand the test of time. My nikon F5 was a tank, and so was my Nikon D1x and D2x. I can't say the same for the canon line of cameras - and they were more money. I know lots of canon fanboys out there lately, but Nikon has my vote for serious work. I might buy a lens with a canon mount to make it play nice with a canon camera system like RED scarlet, but it would most likely be Rokina cine glass , not canon.

Sign me up for a $2K PL zoom.

Not impressed with this solution. I also must say that I was not impressed with the MTF F3 to Nikon adapter, which I sold to buy the Optitek. I don't regret that decision. Lots of people are invested in Canon glass so I suspect that's the reason behind wanting a Canon adapter for the F3. But the solutions so far don't seem terribly practical.
