Is this true?

Someone on Creative Cow said the following:

"Standard settings are correct for 24P shot on DVX100A. IF you want to edit in 24P then you MUST shoot in 24P Advanced . . ."

Is this true? So if I shoot 24P I have to edit it in a 60i timeline?
And 24PA is edited in a 24P timeline? How do I change between these timelines?

No. You can edit 24p in a 24p timeline. It's just that 24p advanced will provide better resolution. It allows the NLE to extract all 24 frames. Regular 24p has some interlacing.

See, that's what I thought. Yet this dude claims to be saying that. Thanks. I'm confused enough as it is! I still can't get this to work right in PPro 1.5. GRrr.

How can I remove the interlacing in PPro? There is a De-interlace option when Exporting it, but then it greys out the area where I selective No Fields (Progressive).

****. I just realized I'm using v7, not 1.5. DAMNIT!
I'm sorry for all the trouble. I'm going to get this fixed up.

Have you tried to get the 1.5.1 update from adobe yet? Once you get the 24p preset you can edit all your 24p footage no problem.

Version 7? I believe that's Premiere pro 1.0. Now I'm confused because you should be able to edit all your 24p footage in a 29.97 timeline with no problems. It won't be true 24p editing but it will all look the same when played on a television.

This problem consumes me! Damn this software!

Yeah, this program is confusing the hell out of me. Oh well, I'll have to try a newer version or figure something out.

5 letters. Begins with V and ends with S. Rhymes with "Megas" and "Pegas." That's the solution ...
