The Vision Research camera "Phantom 65" is interesting. It claims 4096x2440 pixels and 12.5 um pixel size. Assuming square pixels that means a 51.2 x 30.5 mm imager size. Its "standard" lens is a Mamiya 645; to shoot with a normal 35mm lens you would need to use a windowed mode at lower resolution. The web page does not have sample images, or mention any expected release date or price. So apart from the possible-vaporware aspect, it's the only camera remotely like Red that I've seen advertised.

I believe the Phantom brand has previously been known for high-speed cameras for specialized industrial and military applications, a long way from the indie film market.
