Hi all just wondering, has any one tryed this? i own a dvx100b if i filmed in 30p
and transfered footage to 1080p dvd recorder would footage look clear.then transfer to pc sony vegas as high def format to edit. its a stupid question
but i'm wondering if it would do better for quality.
Or is it just better to transfer to sony vegas then try to upconvert to m2t format.
I use sony vegas 7.0
dvx100b
Newblue fx ,moivelooks
etc....
Any info would be great.
Cheers

No luck.
Once the data is recorded on the tape the resolution is locked in.
Uprezzing will do a great job of preserving your SD footage.
However - there might be some advantage to uprezzing then working the post production in hi-def IF the effects and such that you are adding render better in hi-def. I don't know.
Anyone?

be careful with external HD recorders, the codecs are different for HD than SD. to uprez, just export your vegas projects as 1920X1080 (i think thats the resolution!) you just have to convert it to 16:9 if you shot in 4:3

thanks for the info , so if i shot in 4:3 mode i must convert to 16:9 mode to upconvert in vegas. I'm so new at this video stuff.
i'm trying to get the best quality for dvd using vegas, but when i render my shots total data is over 4.7g, how do i fit a large file to dvd, its there a good
aurthor software for pc . i use wincreator to capture and print to dvd,

since its only dvd, you can lower the resolution a little, maybe to 720p and then the file will be smaller. it will still look just as good in 720p as it would in 1080p. windvd is fine for authoring and all that...

Avoid shooting in 4:3 mode if you want to edit a 16:9 sequence. In this case, you should shoot in 16:9 squeeze (anamorphic) mode.
