I got an email announcing this new product:

Apparently, based on the ad, te one screw I've been using to mount my EX-1 to my Sachtler plate is not enough?!?

Is this a real concern for anyone, not having two attachment point between the camera and tripod plate? I'm serious...just want to know if I've been needlessly risking my camera.

FWIW, I do not get any excess movement in the camera as it is now.

My tripod plate already has a post like that, so it's not really a concern for me. There's not really a risk of the screw going bad for safety reasons. I've never seen excessive movement when I didn't have that little post, but that was a while back and with a lesser tripod system.

My EX1 is on a Sachtler DV8, mounted on Miller Solo carbon fibre legs, often on the Miller spider dolly. I'd be squeezing off candid shots in exhibitions, conferences, that sort of thing. Rolling around on hard floors where vibration is present but not an issue.

It does often work loose. Not floppy, insecure loose, but enough to catch you if you're doing a pan and zoom at the same time. It's just a major irritation to pull the thing off to give it a tweak, find you haven't got a coin the right size, futz around, use your car key, get it back on. Harrumph.

So my order's in for a Tiger Claw, though I do find the name makes it sound a bit 'snake oil'. If it were just a 'Spigot Pro' or something, perhaps it wouldn't sound quite so dorky.

Thanks, Matt. I'm using the same Sachtler head. Mine has never worked loose to the point it actually shifted on the plate (yet) but I have had to tighten it a few times.

Thanks
