F5: Is this my setup or are there some flaws with 2KC Recording mode?

We saw some crazy lens flare issues a couple weeks ago at Sebring.....we also had some equally crazy noise happening last weekend in Texas...

The flare issue was shooting without the AXS recorder, and the noise we see here happened when shooting with the recorder attached and was way more prominent in the 1080p footage than the 4k.
Anyone else seen this?

The Flares were in HG2/4 and obv in raw mode the noise happened in S-Log3...

Anyone else seeing weird s*%t in 2KC mode?

It's a well-known issue that has been discussed extensively over at the Sony Community Forum. Do a search for "sensor grid" and you'll find at least a couple of long threads.
Depending on who you talk to, it is either a major problem worthy of returning the camera and getting a refund, or it is just an oddity that can be ignored.

I've seen it a couple of times when looking at raw footage but its never been here after editing. Try taking a couple of those shots through your pipeline and see if you still the grid pattern at the delivery/distribution end of your workflow. That will tell you whether you really have something to be concerned about or not.

Ditto what Doug said. Its sensor grid issue Sony has chosen to ignore and not come back with any further info or even a statement about it.

If it's not too late I would return the camera. Sony needs some serious messages that this is unacceptable.

I had that issue a week ago, but it would only show on a scaled video window on my computer screen.

The real video out via SDI to broadcast monitor, it did not show it.

Take a look at the real video signal and see if it's still there.

My theory, now that I've seen it for myself with my own eyes, is it is an artifact of the OLPF combined with cheap/fast resizing algorithm for a video window.

I've seen weird things like this happen only a couple times and like Nate said, it was only in my Content Browser window or preview window in Resolve, once I exported out a graded version from Resolve it was gone. Hopefully its the same for you.

It supposedly doesn't appear that way in a final output. But shocking that it happens at all.

I have to say, I am very happy to see the F55 is hot 2 NAB's in a row. It's gonna stick around and we can all make a living. Yay!

Regarding NAB, any bets if RED going to setup a high air quality manufacturing room made of glass walls and pretend to manufacture and assemble new technology cameras again?

I have had the same thing, shooting XAVC at 150 frames a second to cards on My F5. Please see top right corner of attached frame grab, and this is evident in final output as well. Issue seems only to arise if the camera is looking at a strong direct light source.

Here is another shot of the issue, this time corner blown up and a colour curve added to highlight the issue:
