is this Canon tv zoom lens (for my GH1) broken?

Just bought an old tv zoom for my GH1, a Canon v6x16 16-100mm.

Can't work out of it the aperture function is broken or needs powering. It has a small dial to switch between auto and manual control (the silver dial pictured on the bottom left). But there is also a cable coming from it (see pic)

Presently its fixed at F1.9. Aperture moves v slightly when I turn the dial, but literally a fraction.

Any thoughts much appreciated!

I have actually just bought one of these and have the same problem! But mine is stuck at F8.

Did you find a solution?

I have a Fujinon ENG lens. When the iris is in auto, the aperture will turn, but with some resistance because the gearmotor is also being turned.

Canon's gearmotor may have a very high turns ratio, which would make it very difficult if not impossible to move with the motor engaged. The switch from auto to manual may be either stuck and not actually going to manual or may be electronically controlled and require power from the cable.

Hi, I didnt find a solution no. I used it wide open. Sorry I couldn't give better news.

Hi. I fixed my V6x16 last night! You need to remove the 5 screws at the rear of the lens and pop the metal off. Then you have access to the aperture gears. If you look closely the small gear attached to the manual pull-out will be loose and not have enough friction to move the larger gear.

To fix just drop a small blob of epoxy or glue onto the gear to attach it to the winding arm. Hey presto! Fixed.

My V6x16 works like a dream now.

One thing I can't work out is how do you adjust the backfocus? I removed the grub screws at the rear but can't shift anything? :undecided
