Is this camera good enough for documentary work up to 720p?

Man, that's a lot of Jell-O vision. Even on a stabilizer, the rolling shutter artifacts are very noticeable. I'd recommend finding a better solution.

It might even look better if you didn't stabilize it. It would obviously look more hand-held, but at least you wouldn't notice the rolling shutter as much as when you try to stabilize it.

It might work if you get a sled type stabilizer so you can just stabilize during production and have less rolling shutter artifacts. And stay away from fast moving objects ;)

Other than that, if you're delivering a documentary at 720p, than I'm assuming that most likely it's not getting delivered in a monetized format...in which case, I think your camera will do just fine. As long as you play to it's strengths, so not a lot of movement if possible, try to stabilize it, amongst other things which you already know about your camera.
-Best of luck!!

thank you. You are quite right there is no monetary motivation. The jello wobble was probably more the result of using Mercalli to remove the gate of my walk than it was the cameras rolling shutter. So yes play to the cameras strengths, or .... Let the weakness run havoc if a motivation can be found for it.

Don't worry about the camera...good sound, good story and you'll be ok. Just don't insert the sort of stabilize footage like in the link you posted.
