I posted a WTB on kijiji for a canon xh-a1 or xl-h1 and i received the following back and forth emails. I'm 95% sure its a scam, but I wanted your guys feedback. I would never go through with it as its totally doen't add up. plus he lied about actually having the camera. If it is a scam, I must say, these guys are getting smarter and more agressive.

Looking for Canon XL-H1 HD camcorder. Willing to pay $3500-$4000 depending on condition.

Also, maybe a XH-A1 for $2500-$3100 depending on condition.

If you some how think this is a scam, judging by your last message, then I will see if I can order this camera with cash from our own pockets.

you need to understand if you change your mind about this camera after we purchased, we cannot return and we would have lost several thousand dollars. (to a camera we do not need)

btw, it will not take more than 5 days to ship here.
(usually doesn't take more than 2 days)

Of course its a scam. And the prices are not good either. Why not just get a new XH-A1s for $3,399.00 from Bhphoto with free shipping.
 
Probably is, not worth the risk. He might be some guy trying to start a business selling stuff, but he doesn't seem to be very good at it and has no sales skills if that's the case. Either way it's not reliable, even if he means well.

The not knowing what items he's selling is a bad idea, though. I'm surprised a domestic phone number was provided.

It is absolutely 100% a scam. But what I'd do is scam the scammer. He offered to see if he could buy the camera using his own company's money to help you feel more assured right? I'd tell him to do that, say you sent the cash. Obviously, don't. Maybe, just maybe, he will spend some of his own money and lose it trying to scam you. Serves him right if he does. And if he doesn't, well, you didn't send anything so not a problem for you.

I mean why did he or she even include ...Camcorder - 680 KP - 20 x optical zoom" when you know more about the camera than the 20 x optical

and one more is this """but I can charge you about $6,500""" the keyword is "charge" we don't talk this way in the forum if we are ligit sale. I hope you guys understand what i mean and again he trying to list the specs of the camera again heheheh. I have listed my HD110u on cragslist and a couple of nigeiran or what ever you spell it . Email me and even paid me with "Paypal" and boy oh boy i have fun with them i even give them a tracking number.

one scammer even email me back and tell me that he can not track the package and and also corrected me that is not the right tracking number.heheheheh
 
Thanks guys. I received a second email from another person with the same kind of deal. At that point, I just got fed up and I removed the want ad. Still looking though!
