It seems the auto focus on my camera is very slow.
If I do a fast zoom it will take my auto focus like 10 or 15 seconds to get even close to focus. I have put my f stop up to 16 and played with it and it stil just lags really slow. Sometimes it can take over 30 seconds to find focus. The focus numbers just go through 1 at a time real slow.

I mean I would rather have a kind of slow auto focus then a jumpy one but this just gets really annoying.

is this a problem?

is this in 24p? if so, it's normal for the focus to be slower, as the information is coming in only 40% as fast, which is why it is called "focus assist".

As a matter of fact the focus on the original dvx100 didn't even work in 24p, only the A and B have focus assist.

You should be using manual focus anyway.
