Is there such a thing out there?

Hi all,
just wondering, as i have an ipad1 lying round...
is there a HDMI to IP cheapo converter around?
so that i can plug into my f3 and my buddy can watch wireless on the ipad?
Aside from the teradeck things??

cheers

no, not even wired. but that might change in the future if consumers asked for that function.

there are some SD composite or component wireless solutions to monitors, but they probably cost as much as a 5"+ field monitor with hdmi or sdi input that would give you a better brighter crisper images and additional focus and scopes features.

No because Steve Jobs hated wires, and the free exchange of data through cross platform compatibility.

wow, where did that come from, don't start a flame war.

no tablet has that capability, and believe it or not there is more cross platform compatibility then you might think. windows is the odd dock most of the time.

I have a Teradeck Cube. It is not a cheap solution however for on set monitoring where you do not require zero latency it is a very good solution as you can broadcast to an iPad or iPhone rather than an expensive monitor like a Marshall or a FSI. If you are trying to pull focus with it or use it in a video village situation with audio, it is possible in some controlled circumstances but I wouldn't recommend it. It shines where you need mulitiple iPad monitoring and a small latency doesn't affect production.

Using these home multimedia encoders with wireless has been tried but I know of no one that has stayed with that solution beyond the testing stage. Teradeck Cubes are a entry point and then you get into zero latency devices. Teradeck is releasing a new zero latency device soon in the $2,000 range, Switronix came out with an affordable one in the past 6 months, there is the IDX Camwave that is a bit more expensive and slightly more reliable and then you get into the big stuff with Transvideo, BOXX and others.

There is no free lunch when it comes to HD wireless transmission.

Hi Andrew,

worked with the Camwave, which is fine with large cameras due to the Vmount - but not so much with the F3
the paralinx arrow is closest (andbest/cheapest) solution for me, but still you'd need an extra monitor...
anyway, whish something lieke this was out there... ;-)

Another solution has come out, AbelCine's Wireless Solution, that is still above your target price range but in my mind is probably the cheapest solution for zero latency transmission that offers HD-SDI connectivity (and HDMI). After watching the video in the attached link, by Mitch of AbelCine, I think the Teradeck Bolt is the most elegant inexpensive system available, however, until we see field reports on the quality of the connection for this new round of wirelss HD products, we shouldn't get too trigger happy. Many of the products that have come out over the last few years have not lived up to expectation.

Hi,
well, this is a more expensive and bulkier (and obviously semi pro ;-) setup than the paralinx arrow..
the bolt seems nice, i have seen it... very affordable for what it does indeed
but still, a "USB Stick"-like device would be much nicer ;-)
think i'll maybe go with the arrow or the bolt for now...
