is there signal loss patching SDI signal thru chassis mount bnc connecters?

i am looking to make a case for my ki pro and having chassis mount bnc connecters mounted on the outside. will there be any signal loss if i take SDI output from the af-100 then route it through the chassis mount BNC connecter, then from the other end of the chassis mount connector into the SDI input on the ki pro?

the connector looks like this.

Test it in a mock up situation and let us know.

My guess. No loss.

How will you measure or observe it?

I am pretty sure there will be no problem with that whatsoever. Virtually all BNC cabling in and out of broadcast consoles is done the same way, and it conforms fully to the way BNC and SDI cables were meant to work.

There should be no loss or very minimal at the least try to buy the correct impedance BNC connector 75 ohm... (as opposed to 50 ohm but 50 will work on short runs)

Technically, yes. Connectors of any type create signal loss. Every additional metre of cable introduces signal loss.

Luckily SDI is very tolerant of signal loss and has built-in fault repair and can rebuild the signal at the other end. At our facility we have 100 metre cable runs with upto 15 barrel connectors and often feed uncompressed HD signal down them with no problems.
