GH2 Is there any way to make 1080 24p workable for "slow-mo"?

Until the hack for the GH-2 comes out (fingers crossed for 1080 60p), I want to stay away from using 720p 17mbs.
I've read the codec can break up in dark areas and 720p doesn't have the high Res i need (Shooting a music video clip for boardcast).
Is there any Post work i can do on 1080 24p to make the "slow-mo" smooth?

I have Adobe Pre/Ae CS5, with window 7 and MB suite

Cheers Aaron.

720p is plenty good for broadcast and I haven't had issues of the codec breaking up on me yet and if it's a music video, you can easily cut around any unwanted footage.

I guess you could try conforming 24p to like 12frames per second. But not sure that would work.

I recently experimented with virtualdub, avisynth, mvtools to create higher frame rates from 24p waterfalls clip with the GH2. Here is a sligthly modified script to generate a 24fps file that is in slow motion using this workflow that adds smoothly generated frames in between each frame. Here's the script:

source=directshowsource("00000.MTS") # the video clip file
# source=source.Trim(0,576) # adjust for desired frames from the clip or leave commented
backward_vec = source.MVAnalyse(isb = true, truemotion=true, pel=2, idx=1, search=3)
forward_vec = source.MVAnalyse(isb = false, truemotion=true, pel=2, idx=1, search=3)
cropped = source.crop(4,4,-4,-4) # by half of block size 8
backward_vec2 = cropped.MVAnalyse(isb = true, truemotion=true, pel=2, idx=2, search=3)
forward_vec2 = cropped.MVAnalyse(isb = false, truemotion=true, pel=2, idx=2, search=3)
source.MVFlowFps2(backward_vec,forward_vec,backwar d_vec2,forward_vec2,num=120000,den=1001,idx=1,idx2 =2)
# change num above: 120000 is 5x (4 frames in between each frame)
AssumeFPS(24000,1001) # to make clip play in slow motion

This script assumes NTSC, and 24fps source clip. Here is a sample done with this workflow:

Can you have the same slowmo effect with the regular 720p of the GH2, or do you need this higher fps for it ?

Looks nice :thumbup:

With 720p60 you get 50% slowmo at 30fps. Some video editing programs may do better slowmo similarly to the mvtool workflow by adding interpolated frames. I have used the mvtools to change the 720p60 into 720p120 and then slow it to 24fps and it comes out pretty good... Al
