Is there any current Nikon DSLR that gives decent image quality in video?

D810. Tack-sharp at 1080p (1.1x crop seems to do the trick vs the D800, and removes any aliasing, I could not produce it at all). D810 also has a s35 crop mode with no less in quality, and the 60p doesn't affect quality either. In brief, D810 is the best image available on a Nikon. D750 is great too, but it's softer, shows occasional moire, s35 crop is useless, and 60p drops the quality. It's not as bad as I make it sound though, both are great but D810 is better if you're after the absolute highest IQ on a DSLR now.

Yes, second that on the D810. I've been using it for a few weeks now. Very sharp 1080p. Best Nikon for video IMO though no flip screen. Top of the line stills camera too. D5300 also is pretty good.

Have to say I've been really impressed with the D750. Here's a moire/aliasing comparison with D750 (L) the A7s (r). Standard PP on both, everything set to 0, SOOC. Just like the A7s, with a little effort you can induce moire, but it handles it pretty well IMO. The minute difference in sharpness is probably because of the lens - Tokina 28-70 f/2.6-2.8 vs FE 55 - since the FE is a crazy sharp prime at f/8 and the Tok is an older zoom. I'm not on the level of stuff macgregor does, so for my needs its great. If the D810 is even better - nice.

Anybody have an opinion on the D5500 aps-c body with Nikon Flat Profile?

Unfortunately no video shooters have tested it yet, but it looks pretty awesome!
I received my d5500 a few days ago and have been testing things out a bit :) The flat profile is very good. The cineflat profile still gives more dynamic range but for a lot of occasions its a bit too extreme and you're better off with flat.

I would also say you're better off getting the D5500 over the d5300 and d5200 just for the much improved ergonomics, colours and auto whitebalance (works great in both stills and liveview)

Is there noise or posterization or other artifacts with this cineflat profile? thx
